50 SCENES
ACT I
1.) EXT. CENTRAL AKHEN-RA- EVENING: The 'prologue' takes place in Akhen-Ra's central district, in the evening toward sunset and dusk. Mostly rooftops and wide shots of the city, and one quick interior. Fry and The Pyromancer become aware of each other, from a distance. Dark w/highlights; stability>action
3.)EXT. KISARHUE DESERT - DAY: The desert they emerge to practically blinds Alexius. The camera gets choppy and disorienting to match Alexius's experience. Overblown brightness; action
3.)EXT. PLAZA - DAY: We cut back to Akhen-Ra, and we follow Isis and Yori when they discover Fry busking in front of a shop. Isis abandons Yori and drags Fry into an alley, where they get into an argument that alllmost becomes a physical fight.
4.)EXT. DESERT RUINS - EVENING: The escaped prisoners have fallen into little groups and Alexius's discovers a little town in ruins. They rest there as evening falls.
5.)INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - DUSK: At dusk, the twins return to their house, which is one of the setpieces with the most screentime. I think in this scene we only see its facade, the sitting room and the dining room? Their great-aunt Uadjette is waiting for them there and scolds both of them.
6.)EXT. RUINS/GHOST TOWN - NIGHT: At night Alexius sees the 'ghosts' of the ruins' former residents and a bit of the event that destroyed their city. The next morning he and his group wake up bound and in a lineup. A group of bandits loads them into a caravan headed for Akhen-Ra.
7.)EXT. SLAVE MARKET - DAY: Alexius and his pals get taken to a slave market, where they each get sold. A woman with a bird on her shoulder buys Alexius, though he's soon blindfolded.
8.)INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - DAY: This is the first time all four main characters - Isis, Fry, Yori, and Alexius - share a scene, as Alexius is unblindfolded in the Amenhotep House's foyer. Then Alexius is put to work.
ACT II
9.)INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - DAY: CHORE MONTAGE?! Alexius picks up on different conversations as he stumbles to do housework. Lots of pantomime comedy here, and we set up some of the characters' early interactions here too.
10.)EXT. BACKYARD - NIGHT: Yori and Isis hang out in the Amenhoteps' backyard pool. This scene essentially takes place in Yori's POV, and we hear, along with Yori, the first time she 'hears' peoples' thoughts.
11.)EXT. STREET - NIGHT: Yori storms away down the street, and hears a mass of thoughts as she passes people on the street, she freaks out and we get a wild visualization of peoples' thoughts.
12.)EXT. BUSINESS PLAZA - EARLY MORNING: Fry meets with a member of the Guard - a man on the inside - in a little shopping area for coffee to talk about the Pyromancer. We've seen this scene in, like, every detective movie ever.
13.)EXPOSITION MONTAGE: We see a stylized set of images of the Pyromoncer's past crimes as Fry's contact describes them. Some of these images will be called back to later when we get a real flashback.
14.)INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - MORNING: Alexius waits on Isis meeting with her aunt Uadjette again. Their conversation is vague, but menacing.
15.)INT. CELLAR - MORNING: Alexius has a creepy ghost experience in the Amenhoteps' storage cellar. He rushes out and gets assigned a grocery run by Isis.
16.)INT/EXT. TRAIN/LANDSCAPE - DAY: Alexius and Yori get on the same train from their area of Akhen-Ra to the central area of town. Yori tells him she thinks she's going crazy, but she can't hear his thoughts. We get a lot of nice landscape shots as the train barrels through the desert.
17.)EXT. PLAZA - DAY: Yori and Alexius hang out and she serves a lot of exposition on the history and culture of different bits of Akhen-Ra.
18.)INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - NIGHT: When Alexius gets home, Fry asks him to follow him somewhere.
19.)EXT. RUINS OF A HOUSE - NIGHT: At a burned-down house, Fry does a bunch of skulking around, and investigation in a really flamboyant way. Alexius takes the piss out of this act by just telling him what happened, because Alexius sees the event happen in front of him. Fry thinks Alexius is secretly some kind of deductive genius, collects some evidence at Alexius's direction, and gains a lot of respect for him.
20.)EXT. IMPORTANT HOUSE - NIGHT: We follow the Pyromancer setting a massive Hawara compound ablaze.
21.)INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - DAY: We join Fry listening to a report on the fire on the radio, and rushes out in irritation when it's over. Isis comes in to ask Alexius why Fry's freaking out, and Alexius tells her what they did the night before. She makes a lot of menacing facial expressions.
22.)EXT. PARK - DAY: Yori tries to get a handle on her mindreading abilities. She focuses on an old man feeding ibises in the park. She focuses on him so hard, he loses consciousness. She panics, rushes to him, wakes him and ensures he's okay, and runs off.
23.)EXT. BOOKSTORE - DAY: Yori and Alexius check out a bookstore, she asks the man behind the counter if they have any books on magic, and they get shooed out of the store.
24.)EXT. ANOTHER MANSION - NIGHT: Alexius and Fry skulk around a secluded
25.)INT. TEMPLE TO AMUN - DAY: Uadjette assigned, as a punishment, 'temple duty' to Alexius and Isis and Fry. They spend some time scrubbing things and repairing stuff, and we get some more interaction between the twins where their disagreements lead to almost-fights and Alexius has to step between them a few times. But at some point he gets separated from them and...
25.)EXT. DESERT SCRUBLAND - DAY: Lost in a little outcrop of shrubs and scrubs, Alexius has another spooky ghost vision. He has a short conversation with Amun which is eqaul parts foreshadowy and spoOooooOoOky.
26.)INT. LITTLE CAFE - DAY: Yori meets with her sister, Erin, at the restaurant she's been trying and failing to run. Yori's rationale is that it'll be so empty, she won't have to deal with too many thoughts at once, and that her sister would be the easiest person to ignore. She slowly develops the ability to shut off her sister's self-absorbed thoughts, and Yori feels great, and then her sister passes out. Yori shrugs and intentionally makes the waiter pass out too.
27.)EXT. SCORCHED COMPOUND - DAY: Fry and Alexius investigate a new arson that popped up the previous night. Again Alexius's power unintentionally shows him the sequence of events, but now something's different. The 'spirit' of one of the people that died in the fire starts screaming at Alexius. He has a freakout that attracts attention from the neighborhood, and the Guard come to arrest them.
28.)INT./EXT. GUARD RICKSHAW - DAY: Fry, Alexius and their arresting officer have a funny interaction on the way to the Guard station.
29.)INT. GUARD OUTPOST - DAY: We get a nice look at how law enforcement works in Akhen-Ra, and how inept it is, causing the need for vigilantes like Fry. Eventually Isis comes to bail them out, and Fry and Isis get in a fight over why they were in that burned down building in the first place.
30.)INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - NIGHT: This is mostly just Alexius and Yori sitting around uncomfortably while Isis and Fry refuse to speak to each other. Yori reminds them that the Dedication Festival to Raa is happening later that week, and hopes it'll bring them together like it did when they were kids.
31.)INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - NIGHT: A subsequent night, Alexius is scrubbing things and spontaneously sees the past - Fry and Isis as younger kids, like 12-13 - writing a play together or something, like I assume rich kids do in their spare time, and then their great-aunt and grandmother come in and explain that their parents have been taken captive in another country, and won't be back for a long time, but in like, kid terms. It's tragic and heartwarming.
32.)EXT. AMENHOTEPS' BACKYARD - NIGHT: Isis meets with Uadjette and they talk vaguely but menacingly about their plans for the following night: the Raa Dedication Festival. FORESHADOWING.
33.)EXT. FESTIVAL PARK - EVENING: The Raa Dedication Festival consists of burning a massive effigy of Raa, along with three human sacrifices to Raa, all burned atop a pyramid in a park (though a smaller one than the one the Cathedral sits on.) Yori, Isis, Fry and Alexius all arrive together as a band plays and dancers dance up and down the steps. This part is mostly setup and exposition but...
34.) EXT. FESTIVAL PARK - NIGHT: As the ceremonial things start in earnest, Isis sneaks away and Fry and Alexius make up an excuse to sneak off as well. Yori kind of just slumps. Fry and Alexius wait in watch on a rooftop, looking out for the Pyromancer, who Fry is convinced will show up tonight at an event so entrenched in fire symbolism. Just as Alexius is sure the Pyromancer isn't showing up, GUESS WHO POPS UP?
35.) EXT. BACKSIDE OF DEDICATION PYRAMID - NIGHT: Fry and the Pyromancer fight. It's really exciting, but they don't really have their hearts in the fight so it's a little tame. Then Isis's hood comes down and Fry's shawl burns off. Once the twins discover each other have been their worst nemeses, the fight gets crazy. A major setpiece I want to work into this fight is that the Dedication Festival involves a lot of fireworks and pyrotechnics, and Isis literally redirects fireworks as missiles directed at Fry. Finally the Guard comes to stop their fight, and Yori's worked her way to the sidelines at some point. Fry swings at Guard members and almost kills one, so Yori forces him to pass out, and then when Isis is getting ready to blow a hole in one of the Guard's vehicles, she forces her out.
36.) EXT. PARK OUTSKIRTS - NIGHT: With both of them passed out, the Guard takes all four of them into custody, but another group armed with crossbows attack their procession out of the park. The members of this group kill the Guard, take Alexius and Fry, and try to take Yori and Isis. Yori uses her powers to knock them out, but when one man attacks her, she reacts strongly and actually kills him. Horrified, she drags Isis away as she's half asleep, and she mutter-screams "that's my brother, don't take my brother."
37.) MONTAGE OF SHOTS: Isis passes out and we see a flashback of the events that turned her into the Pyromancer, starting with her discovering her powers shortly after their parents disappear -- her aunt Uadjette discovering her using her powers -- her grandmother Tefnut abdicating the seat of Hawar Amenhotep for her younger sister Uadjette -- Uadjette training Isis -- Isis's first few missions, still as a child, setting rival house's properties on fire -- etc.
ACT III
38.) INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - NIGHT: Isis wakes up with her head ringing in her sitting room. Yori is just pacing back and forth. Yori explains she killed someone, by accident, and Isis is totally unfazed. They get in an argument about it and Yori runs out. Isis is left alone with her angst.
39.) INT. DUNGEON - NIGHT: Fry and Alexius also wake up, aching and bleeding and not at all in good shapes. Fry's sulking and Alexius is confused, and then a group of masked soldiers burst through the door. They say they're going to sell Fry and Alexius back to Hawar Amenhotep, under the misconception that Fry is the Pyromancer. Their cell gets dark and all they can do is talk to each other, since they're chained to the floor and chained together at the neck.
40.) INT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - NIGHT-thru-DAWN: Isis tears through everything Fry owns, and eventually stumbles on a little 'vigilante lab' he has set up in his closet, complete with a crazy pinboard that connects different events to each other. Following his line of deduction and filling in the blanks with her own knowledge, she realizes Hawar Amenhotep has been at war with a handful of other noble Hawara, and all of them have been at war with the Brotherhood of the Serpent - 'TIMM's more extremist and legitimately scary faction. She deduces that Uadjette used her as a pawn to show off their house's power in a very public way. Furious that she's been used, she storms out to rescue her brother, but
41.) EXT. AMENHOTEP HOUSE - MORNING: Uadjette is outside the door. She tells Isis that the Brotherhood is ransoming her brother and slave, and that Uadjette is about to reject the ransom and let the Brotherhood kill them. 'Your brother is a lost cause, anyway, we all know that,' argues Uadjette, which is a callback to something Isis says in Act I. Obviously this pisses Isis off and she finally stands up for herself and attacks her great-aunt.
42.) INT. DUNGEON - MORNING: Still injured, Fry and Alexius trade stories about their lives. Alexius reveals to a skeptical Fry that he can see the past. Fry tells Alexius a bit of his Tragic Backstory. Their voices get weaker and weaker as they talk, and we get some ominous shots of their injuries and bloodloss. Finally, Alexius stops breathing.
43.) EXT. AFTERLIFE - ETERNAL: Here we get a really cool trippy sequence of the guys literally dying and getting 'processed' into the After Life, which is a crazy psychadelic mishmash of Egyptian and Mexican and Sumerian and cosmic iconography running wild.
44.) EXT. STREET - DAY: Isis has defeated Uadjette and goes through her pocketwatch to set up an exchange meeting with the Brotherhood. She knocks on Yori's door and they get in another argument.
45.) EXT. AFTERLIFE - ETERNAL: Fry and Alexius are weighed against their own sins, and then a group of animal-hybrids brings them to the ultimate judge, Aken. Aken has some mystical foreshadowy wisdom to impart to them amid this sequence, which, honestly I hope is at least as surreal as like the Pink Elephants scene, or a Lady Gaga music video.
46.) INT. YORI'S HOUSE - DAY: Yori is in full Wall mode, and is abusing the objects around her via newly developed telekinesis. As the climactic fight scene between Fry and Sis was the summit of their narrative-argument, so is this scene the peak of the argument between Isis and Yori. Eventually Yori agrees to join Isis, but the scene ends early enough that it could be read as a little ambiguous.
47.) EXT. PLAZA - DAY: Brotherhood members have dragged Fry and Alexius to the plaza, the agreed-upon meeting place for the ransom trade-off. Fry has stumbled awake by now, and nudges Alexius awake. It turns out they're not that dead after all. Fry's brain rushes to figure out an escape plan. They get away as Isis and Yori show themselves. Isis isn't wearing her Pyromancer hood, and makes no attempt to hide her powers in the battle scene that ensues. Yori and Isis work together to fight a mass of Brotherhood members, and while at first Fry and Alexius are just trying to escape, they get drawn into the big fight too. At some point all four of our heroes are backed into the same corner, and Fry and Isis have a heartwarming reunion and catch each other up on things. And then we get what, hopefully, the audience has been waiting for: a massive superhero-ish group showdown. That part'll be really cool. Eventually the good guys overpower the bad guys and the Guard shows up.
2.)INT. Library/Prison Compound - DAY: We cut to Alexius in his dark sad library. A few minutes of exposition as he walks through another bit of the compound, and then the alarm goes off and he gets caught in a crush of people trying to escape. Dark w/small light patches; stability>rest>action

24.)EXT. ANOTHER MANSION - NIGHT: Alexius and Fry skulk around a secluded
mansion at night. Fry says they're there waiting for the Pyromancer, and Alexius thinks he's nuts. Then the Pyromancer shows up, and they fight. When they discover they're evenly matched, the Pyromancer runs off, but a bunch of city guard come in and Fry can't quite fight them all off, so he and Alexius run away.
